A day in the life of… our Sales Director

Our team is made up of the best industry specialists around, who are all committed to providing the ‘Invicta difference.’

We’ve recently being sharing what this means from a practical perspective through our ‘Day in the Life of…’ posts, which have already focused on quite a number of our team members. This time around, we’re talking to our Sales Director, Chris Wolfenden:

Q. What time do you usually start and finish work?chris-sales-director-invicta

A. I officially start at 7.30am, but as soon as I’m in the car around 6.30am, I start to go over the tasks I have for the day and how best to tackle them.

Q. What does a ‘typical’ day involve for you?

A. It involves supporting the business with any sales-related queries, holding one-to-ones with our customer-facing sales team and constantly looking for ways to improve the customer journey, from enquiry, to order, and everything in between.

Q.Does your job involve much travelling?

A. I like to set myself and the team a target of attending two sector-specific exhibitions a month so that we can get out there and engage with as many customers and prospects as possible. I also dedicate a considerable amount of time to customer visits. They enable me to discuss the finer details and develop our existing and new relationships face-to-face.

Q.What’s the most challenging aspect of your role?

A. Trying to fit everything into five days. We’re a rapidly-growing business and with more employees than ever before, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes. That being said, we have a great team, there’s a real buzz about the place and I relish the challenge.

Q. What do you find most rewarding about it?

A. As a Director, there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing people flourish within their role, from operations/warehouse to sales and marketing, it’s great to see. Long may I continue to guide and help people make this business even greater.

Q.What’s the one task you always do every day?

A. Check the sales figures against our forecast and make sure everybody in the business has been updated on them and is pushing in the correct areas.

Q. Who do you work most closely with at Invicta?

A. I draw a lot of knowledge from our Managing Director, Peter Sharpe. He knows the business and industry like the back of his hand – it’s great to learn from someone who’s so experienced and has seen it all. (Read our ‘Day in the life of’ post with Peter).

Q. Describe your job in one word.

A. Exhilarating.
